World War 2 Rifles and weapons

Video demonstration

We were pleased to welcome a World War 2 re-enactment group to our 2009 Village Theme Day. The following video shows a demonstration of the World War 2 rifles and other weapons that they brought with them.

I confess to knowing very little about the guns of the 2nd world war, but I learnt a lot from his display which included the British Pattern 14 and Lee Enfield Mk. IV bolt action rifles, the semi automatic M1 Garand used by the USA from 1936-1957, the German Mauser Karabiner K98 bolt action rifle, the British Bren gun, a machine gun used right up to the Falklands war in 1982 and the Gulf War in 1991 along with many more.

Considering that I pointed my video camera at him and asked him to talk me through his collection, he did an excellent job!

It was a real pleasure to have the group join us for our special day.
