St Swithins Day concert at St Swithins Church, Old Weston
Saturday July 10th sees Sawtry Chorale performing a Concert in the church, at 7.30pm.
The concert is being performed on the Saturday nearest to St Swithins Day and in accordance with the ancient Old Weston custom, the floor of the church will be covered with straw. You will learn more about this custom at the event!
Those of you who may have attended the 2008 Sawtry Chorale Christmas Concert at the church will remember that the concert was a sell-out. The church was full and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously.
For this concert, additional seating will be in place, but we still advise you to buy your tickets early!
This concert will feature songs from shows, films and musicals, as well as other well known songs, including "Field's of Gold" and "Didn't it Rain".
Refreshments will be available during the interval.
Ticket priced £5 and £4 (concessions) are available from the Swan Pub in Old Weston, and from Stas' Chobrzynski or Lynne Dent.
If you have any questions about this concert please do not hesitate to contact Stas' on 01832 293185/0777 0226123.
Have a great time!
So if you think that you may enjoy singing a variety of music, why not try them out?
You don't need to be able to read music, although it does make the first few rehearsals easier, but you do need to be able to sing and be prepared to sing a wide range of songs.
Sawtry Chorale rehearses every Wednesday evening (in term time) between 7.45pm and 9.45pm at the Methodist Hall (next to the Methodist Church) in Sawtry. You can come along on any rehearsal night and see what they do, with no obligation. The first rehearsal after the summer break will be on Wednesday 1st September 2010.
OR you could speak to any one of the Chorale members during the interval at this concert to see what it is really like!
